What an awesome finish to another great year of Crazy Legs.
Crazy Legs XXI, or 21 for the non-Roman numeral crowd, came down to the final minutes of the National Championship Game. Both CGLong and TheWalrus were tied going into the final contest of the season. If they both picked Indiana, the tiebreaker would be the previous week’s record. Looking back, TheWalrus bested CGLong in week 18. This left CG with no choice but to select the underdog Hurricanes. This set up and intriguing NC game for CG and TheWalrus. If Indiana wins, The Walrus is crowned. If Miami wins, CGLong takes home his second championship.
In what was probably one of the better NC’s in recent history, the Hoosiers bested the Hurricanes and lifted The Walrus to his first ever Crazy Legs title. Congratulations Walrus on your resilience and welcome to the club. Your name is now in the Champions book. Feel free to post this blurb on your refrigerator for your family to see. I am certain your wife is proud! Again congrats on the season and good luck chasing the repeat next year!
The repeat is difficult. In fact, only one person has ever accomplished this feat. 573 pulled off the unthinkable in Crazy Legs VIII & IX. It was 2013 that he won his second straight and put the entire Crazy Legs pool on notice. There were thoughts that he was invincible. Could anyone ever win again? What if he just runs the table every year? Well he didn’t and my how far the mighty have fallen. Yes, 573Prez, the only person to ever win BTB titles is now your Beno of the Year. His name will forever be etched in infamy alongside his accomplishments in the early 2010’s.. Congratulations El Presidente on your amazing season. You now have a free entry into Crazy Legs XXII to run in back again. Could he be the first with back to back titles and back to back Benos?
